Valentine's Day is this Sunday and with the world still in the midst of a pandemic, it's going to look a bit different. Celebrating from the comfort of your own home is going to be the safest option for many.
Let's see if we can help spice up your at home celebration with some stay at home ideas. I asked the kids to chime in as well!
Addie says:
"We can bake something together! Maybe make cookies, or a cake?"
Baking something together, is a great idea for families! Valentine's Day is a great day to enjoy some sweets. The kids and I will be making our Mardi Gras King Cakes that day so instead of baking sweets for Valentine's Day we are going to make a sweets "charcuterie" board. Both kids received some really fun Valentine's candies from their grandparents from Chocolate's on Broadway and we are going to create a fancy tray to eat them off of (after dinner of course). Here are some fun treat ideas you can make:
Conner, kind of made a face at me when asked what he thought would be a good activity for Valentine's Day. He's a smart cookie though, and his response was perfect.
"We can make a craft, Mom. Duh."
Well played son, well played.
Crafts are the perfect stay at home activity and I know exactly where you can find some great ideas...😉 We've created some fun Valentine themed stuff over the past week and a half so check out the different crafts if you need some inspiration. We tried to keep them simple and using items you might already have in your homes.
Here are a few other ideas for some family fun on Valentine's Day:
-A Valentine Scavenger Hunt- you can create your own or find one online such as this one from Pint Sized Treasures.
-Valentine Science Experiments- Who doesn't love a good science experiment with a theme?
-Printable games such as word searches, word scrambles, I Spy
Our family will be having a pizza party. I've created some pizza themed decorations and got the kids candy pizzas (instead of the usual heart box of chocolates). We will play a board game or two and enjoy each other's company! We may be stuck at home but we will certainly make the best of it!
