Who doesn't love a simple paper backdrop decoration? This one is so easy and so pretty! What I love about these is that I can sit and watch a movie and create this with no problem. It is made using paper, scissors, and a stapler. Like I said, easy, right?
I cut out strips of paper in two different width's with the same length. My red hearts were 1.5 inches wide and about 4.5 inches long and the rest of my strands were made with 1.0 inch wide strips and the same length.
To begin assembling your garland you will gather four strips and staple them together at the bottom.
Take the bottom two strips and fold them down to create a heart. Staple the heart together at the base. You should now have one completed heart and two strips of paper sticking out of the top.
Fold the top two strips upwards to form another heart and staple them together. This part was a little tricky at first because it's kind of awkward trying to staple the heart in the center but I found as I went a long it got a little easier and I got into a rhythm.
Next I stapled two pieces of paper together at the bottom and then folded them upwards towards the bottom heart of my chain and stapled them to it. Continue doing this until you get the length you want.
I was so pleased with the end result. I just LOVE them. They are so cute and fun and fit perfectly in the kids home classroom. This is the room we will have our Valentine Celebration in (since my dining room is decorated for Mardi Gras!) so I wanted to make sure it was decorated appropriately. These can be made with different colors of paper and different widths and lengths of paper. Test different ideas out and see what you come up with. Experiment and have fun! If you try it, let me know how it goes!
