Fourth of July Bucket List

The fourth of July is at the epicenter of summer celebrations; a time to celebrate our nations freedom as well as a time for an epic barbecue bash, outdoor games, and a grand finale fireworks display. If you feel a little overwhelmed with planning such a spectacular bash, look no further! Here are some of my bucket list items and favorite ways to celebrate this year.

Red, White and Blue Bike Parade

This one is fun for both the kids and adults! Gather some of your favorite red, white and blue party decorations and decorate your bikes and scooters! If you're having a bbq bash you could even considering providing a tub full of supplies and decorate as a group! Supplies are easy to find and fairly low cost. Some fun decor items that you could use are streamers, mini flags, ribbons, and balloons. Don't forget the patriotic beads and fun hats and definitely some tape. Your parade could be for your party guests only or just for your family’s entertainment or you could involve the whole neighborhood! Most importantly, have fun!

This was a fourth of July bike parade from back in 2009 right before Addie was born! Conner looked like a celebrity (and I swear had more fun than his face shows) and I mostly got concerned looks from bystanders who thought I’d go into labor in the middle of the parade route😂

Patriotic Crafts

You know I couldn't leave some kind of craft entertainment out of my own bucket list! This is a sure fire way to keep the kids entertained, and, believe it or not, is generally fun for the adults as well. There are so many different crafts that are fun for the fourth of July. Tie dye is always a fun activity and then when it's done and ready to wear everyone has matching tie dye! Another fun craft idea is to make your own bubble wands. They can be formed into any shape you'd like! How about making some ribbon flag wands for the parade as well? Check out the links below for tutorials!

Fun and Festive Activities

Can't have a bucket list of fun without some games! How about the classic watermelon eating contest? Or a donut on a string eating competition? This was a game we played one year on the fourth and it was a HIT. Not only were the kids excited to eat donuts it was so silly and fun to watch them try to catch them and eat them without their hands!

Doesn't this look FUN?

Backyard games such as cornhole, ladder toss, and horseshoes are always fun on the fourth as well. You could turn it into a tournament and provide a prize for the winning person/team! Scavenger hunts are fun too, especially for the younger kids. Another fun activity is to create a game of Charades-Fourth of July style! I've provided a printout of each below that I made if you'd like to try it out.

Festive Food and Drink

One of the most fun things about Fourth of July is the challenge to make as many red, white, and blue foods and drinks as possible. The possibilities are almost endless! Below are some fun ideas for food and drink, some of which the kids will even enjoy helping with.

These are just a few of so many fun things you can do with family and friends this July 4th. Whatever you choose, I hope it's a safe and happy holiday for you all!
