DIY Valentine's Day Decor!

Hi! So it's officially the last day of January-wow this month flew by! We are currently experiencing our first snow of the year/season and it is so pretty to see. I felt today was the perfect day to put up my Valentine's Decor. Funny story though...

I LOVE to decorate! I have some favorite holidays. This year, one of my favorites happens to fall two days after Valentine's Day. (Who does that??) I know the kids love celebrating Valentine's Day so I couldn't not put up those decorations, especially with how different it will be this year. Solution? Decorate for both holidays in different rooms of the house! So I put up our Valentine decor in the living room over the fireplace as well as in the kids "classroom" because that is where we will have our Valentine's Day dinner. Mardi Gras is one of my favorites to decorate for so I set aside the dining room and outside of the house specifically for that. Don't worry, I'll show you that soon!

You can easily create decor for Valentine's Day. The most common object is a heart which is the simplest of shapes. I created a few different garlands from paper using cut out hearts and circles as well as a paper chain. Easy, right?

I also created some pinwheels to give the decorations a whimsical feel. They are so simple and so fun!

Lastly, I created a shadow box to put on the table. This was a difficult to cut and definitely took some time but the end result was awesome.

I did a little time lapse video of the making of our Valentine fireplace. If you have questions, comments, or ideas please reach out! I'd love to hear from you. I hope you enjoy it!
